Close your eyes and imagine the unique sound of Johnny Cash as if it were live and for the first time in 1960. Now is your chance to experience this great
singer songwriter in real time.
The Man in Black tribute show, featuring Shawn Barker as Johnny Cash, is a frozen moment in the time of Johnny Cash according to show producer Kurt
Brown, taking the audience on a “roller coaster ride” in the life of the multi dimensional artist.
“The audience becomes enveloped in the music and forgets they are seeing an impersonation,” said Brown. “The story line is truly the music.”
The script for The Man in Black was written without looking at old footage and trying to duplicate the singer’s life exactly. Instead, it is based on what he
might have talked about and the stories told through his songs. Barker strikes an uncanny resemblance to an early 60s Johnny Cash, portraying him at
the height of his career—a slim, trim, energetic performer with a polished voice.
The Man in Black tribute show portrays Cash authentically, capturing the essence of a singer whose appeal was timeless easily traversing the boundaries
of age, ethnicity and musical genre. It treats even his later hits as the younger Cash would have interpreted them. For example, Cash’s last recorded
song “Hurt,” is performed with the same energy and prowess of a young Cash.
Created in 2005, The Man in Black Johnny Cash tribute show has been performed all across the United States and Canada. In March of 2009 the show
premiered in Quebec City at the Capitole de Québec commanding 20 shows with 10,000 tickets sold. The show is scheduled to return for 9 weeks
starting in July.

Check out what others are saying about The Man In Black.
He sang such audience favorites as "I Walk the Line," "Don't Take Your Guns to Town," "Folsom Prison Blues," "A Boy Named Sue," "One Piece at a Time," and the haunting "(Ghost) Riders in the Sky." For his final number, he and his excellent four-piece band, along with two fine back up singers, cut loose with "Ring of Fire." Other highlights were those rousing Cash favorites "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "Jackson."
The tribute artist subordinates himself, to a large degree, to the performer to whom he's paying tribute. In other words, he can't be himself. Barker wasn't and the audience loved him for it. The show ranks alongside Super Diamond as one of the best tribute concerts I've seen.
